FolderBots™ Windows® Service Application for Image Cleanup and Conversion Introduced by Pegasus Imaging |
| TAMPA, FL, August 14, 2008 – Pegasus® Imaging, the leader in document imaging technology, today announces the release of FolderBots, which runs as a Windows Service to perform document image processing needed by many enterprises. It monitors input folders, performs user-configurable image processing and conversion on images placed in those folders, and writes the processed file to different user-specified directories. FolderBots is a Windows .NET application that integrates image enhancement and file conversion features provided by Pegasus Imaging’s ImagXpress® and ScanFix® Software Development Toolkits, in a ready-to-use Windows Service, without requiring any software development. FolderBots monitors pre-specified folders for the arrival of TIFF, JPEG, or BMP document images. When a single- or multi-page document arrives, it executes a series of cleanup operations optimized for the preparation of FAX or scanned TIFF images for later OCR, such as deskew, despeckle, border removal, and more. FolderBots then writes a new file into a pre-defined output folder for later use. Output file types include TIFF, JPEG, BMP, and PDF. “Applications for FolderBots services have potential in all enterprises,” says Paul Firth, product manager at Pegasus Imaging. “FolderBots can perform quick batch conversion from TIFF images to PDF files, they can monitor a folder for JPEG images produced by a scanner and output as TIFF. They can also monitor a folder for TIFF images received through a FAX server, correct the image quality problems often caused by FAX machines and output as TIFF or PDFs.
